Audio Configuration & Quality
Optimize your cinematic monitoring experience with advanced audio channel management and high-fidelity streaming.
1. Audio Channel Standards
Our system supports three distinct audio channel configurations to match your hardware and monitoring needs:
Mono (1.0)
Standard for security. Uses 128kbps AAC. High-clarity voice monitoring.
Stereo (2.0)
Rich spatial awareness. Uses 256kbps AAC. Perfect for 2026 high-fidelity standards.
Surround (5.1)
Full cinematic immersion. Uses 448kbps AAC @ 48kHz. Professional-grade theater sound.
2. High-Fidelity 44.1kHz Monitoring
While most IP cameras capture audio at 8kHz or 16kHz, our engine upsamples and processes audio at 44.1kHz. This ensures that the audio you hear is clean, crisp, and free from the "metallic" artifacts common in cheaper monitoring software.
3. Bitrate Scaling
The application automatically adjusts the audio bitrate based on your channel selection:
- Mono: 128 kbps (Voice Optimized)
- Stereo: 256 kbps (High Fidelity)
- 5.1 Surround: 448 kbps (Cinematic / 48kHz)
4. Advanced Recording
All recorded files (MP4) include the audio stream in your chosen configuration. We use the AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) codec to ensure your recordings are compatible with all modern smartphones, TVs, and tablets.
5. FAQ
Does my camera support 5.1?
Most consumer cameras (Tapo C200, etc.) are Mono. Professional VIGI models may support Stereo. 5.1 is reserved for specialized hardware, but our software can upmix Mono to 5.1 to provide a fuller sound on your home theater system.
Is there a delay?
By using the AudioWorklet API, we bypass the main JavaScript thread, reducing latency to sub-100ms levels on local networks.
