Step-by-Step Local Configuration
Enable RTSP Port
On your PC or Mac, open the Reolink Client app. Navigate to Device Settings (gear icon) → Network → Advanced → Port Settings.
Activate RTSP / ONVIF Toggle
Ensure the RTSP toggle is set to ON (default port 554). If integrating with NVRs, enable the ONVIF toggle (default port 8000) as well.
Retrieve Local IP Address
Under Network Settings, click on Network Info or check the camera properties to note its IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.80).
Configure Video Profiles
Go to Stream settings in the Reolink interface. Set your main-stream codec to H.264 if your viewer does not natively support H.265/HEVC decoding.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why do I get a black screen with my 4K Reolink camera?
Some older software packages cannot decode H.265 streams. Go into the Reolink app, and under Clear stream quality, lower the resolution slightly or switch the codec to H.264.
Tested Models
The following models have been verified to support standard local RTSP streams natively:
Quick Optimization Tips
- •Reolink PoE cameras have RTSP active by default, but firmware updates can occasionally toggle them off for security.
- •To stream H.265 high resolution (4K cameras), append `_h265` to the stream name, or ensure your client handles HEVC decoding.
- •E1 (standard) does not support RTSP; you must upgrade to E1 Pro or E1 Zoom for native stream features.
